New Year, New Look – Sip & Style For Women in STEM

Hosted by the Society of Women Engineers New York (SWENY) and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Metropolitan (ASMEMETRO), this event is all about connecting, relaxing, and revamping your style.

    Enjoy light bites and delicious drinks while a professional stylist, Maggie Mendola aka Your Closet Confidante, shares tips and tricks to elevate your wardrobe. You’re also welcome to bring one clothing item from your wardrobe that you feel unsure how to wear or would love new styling ideas for. It’s the perfect way to start the year feeling empowered, stylish, and surrounded by amazing like-minded women.

Galentine’s Day Candlemaking

Storytime of Girls can be Engineers with Author Jamila H. Lindo

  • Details: Please join the Society of Women Engineers and author, Jamila H. Lindo, on her reading of Girls can be Engineers: Hannah’s Dream Tower. When civil engineer, Jamila H. Lindo, was pursuing her degree, she noticed that she was often the only female or Black female in her classes. When tutoring younger students, they were often confused or surprised as why she chose her field of study. Realizing that there was a lack of exposure and understanding when it came to engineering and other male-dominated fields, Lindo turned to writing her newly released children’s book, Girls Can Be Engineers, as a tool to inspire girls, especially those of color. This storytime is open to all children with parents or guardians present!
